Mediwrap

Mediwrap®is an innovative passive heating wrap for use in the medical, emergency and rescue services.  Our products are single use, lightweight and individually wrap.  The wraps have a comfortable soft insulating lining and windproof and waterproof outer layer. Designed to arrest hypothermia and stabilise patient temperature, it is able to absorb in excess of ten times its own weight of body fluids whilst keeping the patient warm and dry. The material also acts as a total barrier to bacteria, protecting staff and patients from cross infection caused by previously used bedding.

Mediwrap® is sold in many countries around the world, to hospitals, ambulance services, emergency planners, international aid agencies and the military. In the UK, Mediwrap^® is an approved supplier to the National Health Service, Ministry of Defence, most local authorities, the Royal Yachting Association and the Royal National Lifeboat Institute.

Mediwrap® Textile

Mediwrap® is a modern, non-woven textile combining man-made and natural fibres.  The blanket is produced from a high bulk, air laid tissue laminated to a heat reflective material by means of a unique, non toxic, non-latex bonding process.  It is a low cost, single use product that can be used in almost any situation requiring a blanket.

The Mediwrap® blankets, wraps and survival bags with their absorbent inner liners are supplied in compact lightweight packages that are easy to transport and store. The proven heat reflecting technology enshrined in these products help keep hospital patients and accident victims warm whilst providing emergency protection from the elements.  Mediwrap® is an innovative and highly effective insulation system designed to prevent patient heat loss and associated hypothermia. It also provides high moisture and bodily fluid absorption and is a barrier to bacteria. Mediwrap® may be used in all anaesthetic and surgical procedures as it is non-conductive and radiolucent, making it safe for most electro surgical techniques including diathermy, defibrillation and x-ray.

Why Mediwrap^® is appropriate for use in hot or tropical climates

Operating theatre procedures are essentially the same the world over. Patients need to be at normathermia for optimal recovery rates. Mediwrap® enables patients to attain and retain normathermia, before, during and after surgery, without the need for external heating devices and at a much lower cost.

Whatever the climate, trauma patients in pre-hospital or hospital care have a tendency to lose body temperature. Mediwrap^® prevents this.  In humid conditions, Mediwrap^® is ideal as it absorbs all bodily fluids, sweat as well as blood and forms a protective bacteria barrier.  The metallised layer, while reflecting body heat back to the patient, also reflects excess external heat away from the patient. It is non-conductive and therefore helps maintain normathermia in any climate, hot or cold.
